24 Hours Until Take Off

We have less than 24 hours before the four of us make our way south to the official kick off of the Mongol Rally.

From 10am tomorrow morning the 500+ teams will start arriving at Goodwood Motor Circuit in the south of England for the Adventurist Festival of the Slow UK Launch (http://www.theadventurists.com/events/festival-of-slow-czechout/festival-of-slow-uk).  We’ll all be herded onto the track in order to line up and show our wheels. Before we officially start heading east we’ll enjoy the festivities, which include Mongolian wrestlers, Balkan musical groups and some other Adventurists shenanigans.  Then at 2pm we get to do a glory lap around the Motor Circuit track and then disappear off into the distance.

Before the fun and games begin we have a lot of stuff to still take care of. Simon is out picking up fire extinguishers, maps, duct tape, bungee cords and whatever else he can get his hands on. Matt just left to drive to Leeds to pick up KA-put, our humble, but beastly car, Meghan and I still need to figure out how to get 4 weeks’ worth of clothes into one bag, Meghan and I are obviously tackling the most difficult task.

Here’s a video of our friend Matt checking out all the stuff we are taking:
